'Swans on St. Margaret's Loch' by John Alexander Howie |

In the heart of Edinburgh lies Holyrood Park, surrounding the volcanic remains of Arthur's Seat. At its eastern end is scenic St. Margaret's Loch, populated throughout the year by dozens of swans.
Like all swans in Britain, they are historically the property of the monarchy, which is fitting, as the loch lies only a few hundred yards from Holyrood Palace, the Queen's residence in Edinburgh.
